It's mainly depends on whether the files for the scene's are still intact, and if not, what can be done about it. It's definitely possible!

From what I've heard, (and bearing in mind this is 2000 - 2001), it was the complaints received that made the developers patch it. Either the complaints or the early players and testers being too scared to play it. Although I completely agree, it was a pretty lame choice :huh:

I'm not sure if this was what you were thinking, but I had no involvement with the patch that was made.

Yeah, there's quite a bit more, I can upload the whole lot if you want.

The main problem is working with the scripts, all the file names are in Mojibake (文字化け), literally meaning "Transformed character" in Japanese. (when an Asian language has a seizure while trying to be encoded in ANSI. "文字化け" ---> "æ–‡å—化ã"). This is a big problem because there's over 120 scripts and none of them can be pointed out as being used for specific things in the game. And after opening them, although I can encode it in Unicode or UTF-8 restoring the Korean text, I have no idea what I am looking at unless I get lucky and one of the terms in the script can be translated to something related to what the script is for.

Another obstacle is the file types. If I wanted to edit anything deep, there are only 5 specialized file types I can successfully open and edit: .nop (a packed file, similar to .pak and .zip) .wad (stores a library of textures) .wbd (a strange text file) .scp (a strange script file used specifically by the WangReal Engine) .wep (same as .scp, except this file is generated by the engine itself). Apart from those, I can't change anything too drastically.

You got .pet files, .wft files, .mtn files, .fut files, .asi files, you've got all sorts of cryptic names - but it's not like I'd need to edit these to fix bugs, make improvements (without changing the experience) and translate the game.


Come to think of it, this might be a bit of a hellish job if I attempted it. But I might be able to at least make these scene's accessible with a console command :).

If you ever re-add the scares, make it an addon called "White Day: Blood Festival Edition" or something.

Thanks for posting this :P I got these too, but I will be re-organizing and uploading lots of them to a different page soon. I'll also include a couple I've made - Janitors wield light-sabers (with sounds), alternate textures etc. etc.


I'll probably make some mod support too, so that people can make their own mods for White Day. But only if people think it's a good idea :)
